You are what you say

in Jersey Village - Eternal Martial Arts

I asked a child yesterday why he was getting angry.  He showed visible signs of frustration from not being able to learn something I was showing him.  I told him to breathe, slow down, and think about what he's doing.  I told him not to get angry or upset because that only hinders learning.  His reply was that, "well, I am an angry person."  That's too bad when people say things out loud that help define them, but what about our internal dialogue?  Aren't we all guilty of saying negative things to ourselves that only hurt us.  I say in my martial art classes: "don't hit yourself, that's the other person's job."  Let's not give ourselves mental/emotional jabs either!
